Extreme Heat Safety

July is often synonymous with uncomfortable heat and humidity. This month we will review safety tips for both people and pets who are vulnerable to excessive heat. For the full article from GVFD cllck here. Also see this link.

Extreme heat is generally defined as a period of more than 2-3 days of temperatures greater than 90 degrees. For those of us who live in the Southwest, most of the summer has consecutive days of temperatures over 100 degrees.

Heat Index is a term that tries to assess the combination of both outside temperature and humidity that has a cumulative dangerous effect on the health of humans. Thus, the degree of humidity can increase the health risk when combined with the actual temperature. For example, if the outdoor temperature is 90 degrees and the relative humidity is 70%, the heat index when calculated makes that outdoor temperature of 90 degrees feel like 106 degrees.

Pets are vulnerable to heat related illnesses as well. Signs of heat stroke in a pet are obvious: lethargy, weakness, panting, extreme thirst, and weakness.

Dear Community Members,

As many of you are aware Title 42, a policy created to address public health and social welfare that granted the government the authority to regulate border crossings in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, is set to end this Thursday, May 11th. We do not currently know what the scope of the impact will be on the Green Valley community and the rest of Pima County. Our foremost concern is the safety and wellbeing of Green Valley residents.

If you encounter individuals or large groups of individuals in or near your home or in your HOA, please call 911 immediately. Please do not approach these groups or individuals. Call 911 immediately and allow our law enforcement officers to respond appropriately to the situation. Please remind your friends and neighbors to call 911 if they encounter groups or individuals and remind them not to approach any group or individual. Your safety is paramount.

The Green Valley Council

March Dates For Garage Sale

There WILL be a community garage sale on March 17th and 18th from 8 am to Noon.  The signs/banners will be put out at the front entrance. We suggest you put signs up to your house if you are participating.

We are working with CCVI to have our sales at the same time. But, during the recent upheaval it appears that CCVI has changed the dates for their sale to April 14th and 15th.  As some of our members were planning on March we will be keeping those dates AND hold a 2nd garage sale on April 14th and 15th with CCVI. So, if you miss the March sale you can always participate in the April sale.

We are also planning a fall garage sale the 2nd weekend in November.

If you have any questions feel free to email countryclubvistas2@gmail.com.

President’s Message

Hello neighbors!

We had a great turnout at the annual meeting, and I thank all those that attended, and missed those who were unable to come.  Helen Reynolds did a great job getting a coffee and cookie table provided to keep us all well-nourished as we met.  Thank you, Helen!

While we were out in the room, our Election Committee was squired away in a back room counting the ballots and tallying the vote.  This years Chairperson was Martha Crowell, and she was supported by Allen and Lucy Elsmore, and Helen Russo.  After the results were tallied, the top three elected to serve on the Board of Directors were: Nancy Steele, Don Wallenfang, and David Hershey.  Congratulations to all, and thank you, members, for participating in the election this year.

Officer reports were given, and that was followed by a Membership driven question and answers.  Weeds and sheds were the biggest topics.   We have had so many volunteers this year, it’s been amazing to see the increase of participants in the goings on around here!

We also had two guest speakers at our meeting: Commander Doug Kenyon, from the Sheriffs Auxiliary Volunteers and Corey Guerin, from the Department of Forestry and Fire Management.

One thing that we should all put on our calendar now is the next Community Wide Garage Sale, in conjunction with Country Club Vista’s 1.  The Spring date has been set for March 17 and 18.

We are also implementing a 3rd Friday Social.  These are opportunities to get together with other neighbors.  Helen Reynolds described the idea as a monthly gathering, 3rd Friday, from 3-5.  She’s volunteered to host the month of March, so, March 17, from 3-5 pm, and neighbors bringing an appetizer and a bottle of whatever to help that months host.

As a reminder: please do check the CC&R’s before starting any projects!  Most of the time, your projects are not a problem, but, like the old adage, better safe than sorry!  We hope you will be utilizing the Architectural Improvement form found on the website.  If you have any questions, you are always welcome to reach out to the Architectural Chair, Don Wallenfang, or any other Board Member.

If you have any questions, just reach out to one of us or your block captains.  There is a list of contacts on the website.    Happy January all….stay warm!

President, Country Club Vistas 2
