Country Club Vistas II Property Owners Association Inc

Greetings Members;

Thanks to everyone for your concerns regarding the recent resignations of three Directors.  If you are interested in serving on the Board, we are eager to hear from Members willing to serve their community.
To continue the business of the Board we have appointed a President Pro Tem and Secretary Pro Tem.  Because of this situation we have cancelled the meeting scheduled for 17 February 2023.
If you have any concerns, comments, or ideas please feel free to contact us.
Thank You,
CCVII POA Board of Directors

President’s Message

Hello neighbors!

We had a great turnout at the annual meeting, and I thank all those that attended, and missed those who were unable to come.  Helen Reynolds did a great job getting a coffee and cookie table provided to keep us all well-nourished as we met.  Thank you, Helen!

While we were out in the room, our Election Committee was squired away in a back room counting the ballots and tallying the vote.  This years Chairperson was Martha Crowell, and she was supported by Allen and Lucy Elsmore, and Helen Russo.  After the results were tallied, the top three elected to serve on the Board of Directors were: Nancy Steele, Don Wallenfang, and David Hershey.  Congratulations to all, and thank you, members, for participating in the election this year.

Officer reports were given, and that was followed by a Membership driven question and answers.  Weeds and sheds were the biggest topics.   We have had so many volunteers this year, it’s been amazing to see the increase of participants in the goings on around here!

We also had two guest speakers at our meeting: Commander Doug Kenyon, from the Sheriffs Auxiliary Volunteers and Corey Guerin, from the Department of Forestry and Fire Management.

One thing that we should all put on our calendar now is the next Community Wide Garage Sale, in conjunction with Country Club Vista’s 1.  The Spring date has been set for March 17 and 18.

We are also implementing a 3rd Friday Social.  These are opportunities to get together with other neighbors.  Helen Reynolds described the idea as a monthly gathering, 3rd Friday, from 3-5.  She’s volunteered to host the month of March, so, March 17, from 3-5 pm, and neighbors bringing an appetizer and a bottle of whatever to help that months host.

As a reminder: please do check the CC&R’s before starting any projects!  Most of the time, your projects are not a problem, but, like the old adage, better safe than sorry!  We hope you will be utilizing the Architectural Improvement form found on the website.  If you have any questions, you are always welcome to reach out to the Architectural Chair, Don Wallenfang, or any other Board Member.

If you have any questions, just reach out to one of us or your block captains.  There is a list of contacts on the website.    Happy January all….stay warm!

President’s Message

Dear Country Club Vistas II Community Members

Thank you all for taking the time to come out and be with us this year. It’s been a cold week, and the couch feels like the place to be on these cold and cloudy days.

The past 12 months can be described as transitional. We had vacancies arise on the Board, and we have had the pleasure of welcoming old and new board members who stepped up to help us with making sure the community was well represented and functioning.

During this last year, we remained committed to respecting the variants of Covid, and we continued to Zoom our meetings as necessary. Thank you, TC, for coordinating those. Being a good ol’ boy from Texas, he managed to wrangle as many of our membership to the meetings as he could.

As we are members of the Green Valley Council, I have been attending Presidents Roundtables hosted by GVC. These are wonderful opportunities for me to represent you in the community. Often these are learning opportunities that enhance our POA. As a by-product of those meetings, we can look forward to guest speakers to come out to our POA meetings. Each month, Helen Russo, our Green Valley Representative attends the GVC Rep meetings, and after most meetings, she writes up a report that is sent out by Nancy Steele. We appreciate the work that she is doing for us, and the time she takes for that. GVC is a great resource for us and they continue to develop programs for the community, as well as being our biggest advocates in Pima County government.

One of our goals this last year was to inventory and review what the POA has had in storage: we were able to organize the contents of a storage unit that our POA rented for years. After going through the unit, we agreed to cancel the rental unit as it was no longer necessary. The contents being primarily old Holiday decorations that had long outlived their usefulness.

We have much to celebrate in our neighborhood: several new faces have moved here and call Country Club Vistas 2 home. We see more and more that folks are remaining year-round, which is of course helpful for many reasons, security being one. Thank you all for keeping our community such a lovely place to live. As we add more homes and families to the neighborhood, we see more and more the reaching over the fence attitude of helping one another as needed. One neighbor who comes right to mind is Henry Ramirez. You can’t go a day without seeing Henry and his truck in front of a neighbors house, or in the alley, helping to clean up what so many of us struggle with these days. As many of you know, our Architectural Committee is kept busy with neighbors moving in and out and needing to make changes. A form will be added to the website to help accommodate this.

Bill Baitinger still maintains the front entry, all year, and as always appreciates any help he can get. My goal is to secure a second person to be as committed as Bill has been. Many hands make light work.

Lots of action at the garage sales this year. It was great to see so many of you participate and when we coordinated with Country Club Vistas 1, it created even more traffic to our sales. We will be doing this again in the future.

Monsoons: brought rains and weeds and much appreciated water. I encourage you to have a plan this year to minimize the growth of weeds. Mike Simpson, Environmental Chair, and has great ideas as well as resources to help with that. If you are not here year round, you are still responsible for maintaining your lot and alley. Reach out to a service provider, Henry Ramirez is just one that I can think of, and put together a plan to stay on top of that.

We have another new neighbor volunteer, Helen Reynolds. She was at our November meeting and put her hand up to decorate the front of our entrance for the holidays. Not an easy job considering we work with windy and rainy conditions, on top of making it look nice without using electricity. We had many wonderful compliments. Helen also volunteered to host at her house the Country Club Vistas 2 New Years Eve party and it was a hit! Thank you for coordinating that, and stepping into the Social Committee.

Our neighborhood is going through a change: many new faces are moving in, and we should all be mindful of keeping an eye out for each other. If you see a need, and can help, it likely will be very much appreciated. For example, Lisa Brightman noticed a woman rushing towards La Canada… well, it turns out she needed to get to her appointment before the place closed, so Lisa offered her a ride and away they went. It may not seem like much to the helper, but to the receiver, it meant a huge difference in her day and household. We are blessed to live in community that offers us the chance to reach out and lend a hand, or reach out and find a friend. Lets continue to work hard and remember to say hello to each other on the streets. We found a great place to retire to, let’s keep that going.

Respectfully submitted, Jan 18, 2023 Jenny Hensley

News From Your Board

COMMUNITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE Scheduled for Friday – Saturday, November 11 – 12, 8:00 a.m. to Noon.   (Coordinating w/CCV1 to encourage additional buyers.) We will be posting in NextDoor, Facebook and Craigslist.  Remember CCV2 will only place signage at our entrance. Each participating neighbor will need to place a sign, with balloons or other designation to draw people to your home.

SAVE THE DATES: The Spring Garage Sale is scheduled for Friday – Saturday, March 17 – 18, 8:00 a.m. to Noon.

SPEED KILLS.  Now that our Winter Residents are returning, there will be an increase in traffic for vendors/visitors/etc.  Please remind those coming to your homes to respect the 25 MPH speed limit in our neighborhood.  Many of us aren’t able to scurry across the intersection to avoid a speeding vehicle, so we need everyone’s cooperation.

WEED CONTROL. The monsoons are over and it’s time to get out and clean up our yards, pull and/or spray weeds.  As a courtesy to your neighbors, please give ADVANCE notice to adjacent homes when you or your landscaper will be broad spectrum spraying your yard. Many of our residents are sensitive to the toxins used to kill weeds and would appreciate a heads up to ensure they are safely in their homes with windows and doors closed during the broad spectrum spraying.
